The Horst Brandstätter Group receives sustainability award from the district of Fürth for two outstanding projects

Zirndorf, 2nd July 2025 – The Horst Brandstätter Group was honoured at this year's Sustainability Award of the district of Fürth: For the sustainable orientation of the Playmobil Junior product line and the local environmental education project Bee Adventure Trail in the Playmobil Funpark.

Shaping the future - with sustainable toys

With Playmobil Junior, the company has been producing all sets for children aged one to four years from 90 per cent bio-based plastic since August 2024. The accompanying material is made entirely from recycled paper and at least 95 per cent recycled cardboard is used for the packaging. Playmobil Junior is certified according to ISCC+ (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification). This project is therefore a consistent step in the Horst Brandstätter Group's sustainability strategy and a pioneer for resource-saving product design in the toy sector.

Regionally rooted - ecologically committed

The jury was also impressed by the second award-winning project: the bee adventure trail at the Playmobil Funpark in Zirndorf. It teaches children and families about the importance of bees for our ecosystem in a fun way. Showcases, information boards and real bee observation make environmental education tangible - in line with the ‘Quality Education’ and ‘Life on Land’ sustainability goals of the UN Agenda 2023. The Group has also established a total of 15 bee colonies on the company premises in Zirndorf.

‘With two outstanding projects, the Horst Brandstätter Group shows how a sense of ecological responsibility can be implemented within a company,’ said Dr Maike Müller-Klier from the Nuremberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Middle Franconia in her laudatory speech. "On international markets, but also locally on site. Even for products with high material requirements, because our children play with them. Toys that take responsibility," she continued.

Prize money is donated

The Horst Brandstätter Group is donating the prize money to the ‘Bunter Kreis’ project at Fürth Children's Hospital. This supports families with seriously or chronically ill children through individual aftercare, counselling and psychosocial support - a commitment that goes beyond standard care and is urgently dependent on donations.

With two outstanding projects, the Horst Brandstätter Group demonstrates how a sense of ecological responsibility can be realised within a company.
