Even before its official launch on September 1st, PLAYMOBIL — a brand of the Horst Brandstätter Group — is off to a flying start: The new play system “Sky Trails” has been named overall winner of the “German Toy Award 2025.” The “Sky Trails Starter Kit” impressed the jury and also secured the top spot in the category “Play & Technology.”
The “German Toy Award” – formerly known as “Das Goldene Schaukelpferd” – is presented by the family magazine familie&co in cooperation with IDS Deutschland and is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the industry.
In 2025, the award will be presented for the 24th time. This year, a total of 56 products were nominated across six categories. Nearly 20,000 votes were cast in a four-week online poll, from which twelve finalists emerged. In the final jury decision, Sky Trails was chosen as both the overall winner and the winner in the “Play & Technology” category.

The play system is designed for children aged seven and up and combines construction and action: With cable car elements, flip rails, loops, and lifts, kids can build spectacular courses throughout their rooms. The constructions are modular, stable, and endlessly reconfigurable — offering a play experience that fosters creativity, spatial thinking, and an understanding of physics.
